Ikan (“Ikan”, “we”, “us”) sells Ghanaian-inspired menswear and ships worldwide. This policy explains what personal data we collect through ikan.fashion, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have over it.
We collect the following categories of personal data:
Where UK/EU data protection law applies, we rely on: performance of a contract (taking and fulfilling your order, running your account); consent (marketing emails, which you can withdraw at any time); and legitimate interests (fraud prevention, keeping our records and site secure).
We don’t sell your data. We share it only with the following, and only as needed to run Ikan:
Each of these processes your data under its own agreement with us, and only for the purpose we’ve engaged them for.
We currently use only strictly necessary cookies, the kind that don’t require consent under UK/EU law because the site can’t function without them:
ikan_currency and ikan_country, remember your display currency and ship-to country. We don’t currently use third-party advertising or analytics cookies. The cookie banner shown on your first visit lets you choose “Necessary only” or “Accept all”, nothing beyond the strictly necessary cookies above will ever load without your choosing “Accept all”, whether or not you’ve made a choice yet.
We ship orders worldwide, so your delivery address is shared with couriers operating in your destination country. Some of our service providers, such as Stripe, process data outside the UK/EEA (including in the US). Where we or they transfer personal data out of the UK/EEA, we rely on their standard contractual safeguards.
We keep order and account data for as long as you have an account with us, plus a further period to meet our tax and accounting obligations (typically up to 7 years after the transaction). If you ask us to delete your account, we’ll erase what we can and anonymise the rest of what we’re legally required to retain.
Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:
To exercise any of these, email support@ikan.fashion, or use our contact page. If you’re not satisfied with our response, you have the right to complain to your local data protection authority (in the UK, the ICO at ico.org.uk).
Ikan is not directed at, and we don’t knowingly collect data from, anyone under 16.
We may update this policy as our practices change. We’ll update the “last updated” date above whenever we do.
