Privacy policy

Last updated 22 July 2026

Ikan (“Ikan”, “we”, “us”) sells Ghanaian-inspired menswear and ships worldwide. This policy explains what personal data we collect through ikan.fashion, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have over it.

Who we are. Ikan F&T, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 14096265), registered office 128 City Road, London, England, EC1V 2NX. For anything in this policy, contact us at support@ikan.fashion.

1. Information we collect

We collect the following categories of personal data:

  • Account data: name, email address and a securely hashed password, if you create an account.
  • Order data: billing and delivery address, phone number, the items you buy, and your order history.
  • Payment data: we never see or store your full card details. Payment is handled entirely by Stripe, our payment processor (see “Who we share data with” below).
  • Communications: messages you send us for support or returns enquiries.
  • Marketing preferences: your email address, if you opt in to the newsletter, and whether you’ve unsubscribed.
  • Technical data: your approximate location (country), used only to set your display currency, and standard web server logs.

2. How we use it

  • To take, process and ship your order.
  • To create and manage your account, and let you view your order history.
  • To respond to support and returns enquiries.
  • To send you order and shipping confirmations (these are essential to fulfilling your order, not marketing).
  • To send you marketing emails about new drops and offers, only if you’ve opted in, you can unsubscribe at any time.
  • To detect and prevent fraud, and to meet our legal and accounting obligations.

3. Our legal basis for processing

Where UK/EU data protection law applies, we rely on: performance of a contract (taking and fulfilling your order, running your account); consent (marketing emails, which you can withdraw at any time); and legitimate interests (fraud prevention, keeping our records and site secure).

4. Who we share data with

We don’t sell your data. We share it only with the following, and only as needed to run Ikan:

  • Stripe: processes payment. Stripe receives your payment details directly; we do not.
  • Couriers and customs brokers: receive your delivery address and contact details to ship your order internationally.
  • Our email service provider: sends order confirmations, shipping updates and (if you’ve opted in) marketing email on our behalf.
  • Professional advisers (accountants, lawyers) and authorities, where we’re legally required to.

Each of these processes your data under its own agreement with us, and only for the purpose we’ve engaged them for.

5. Cookies

We currently use only strictly necessary cookies, the kind that don’t require consent under UK/EU law because the site can’t function without them:

  • ikan_currency and ikan_country, remember your display currency and ship-to country.
  • A sign-in session cookie, keeps you logged in to your account.
  • A cart cookie, remembers what’s in your bag between visits.

We don’t currently use third-party advertising or analytics cookies. The cookie banner shown on your first visit lets you choose “Necessary only” or “Accept all”, nothing beyond the strictly necessary cookies above will ever load without your choosing “Accept all”, whether or not you’ve made a choice yet.

6. International transfers

We ship orders worldwide, so your delivery address is shared with couriers operating in your destination country. Some of our service providers, such as Stripe, process data outside the UK/EEA (including in the US). Where we or they transfer personal data out of the UK/EEA, we rely on their standard contractual safeguards.

7. How long we keep it

We keep order and account data for as long as you have an account with us, plus a further period to meet our tax and accounting obligations (typically up to 7 years after the transaction). If you ask us to delete your account, we’ll erase what we can and anonymise the rest of what we’re legally required to retain.

8. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate data.
  • Ask us to delete your data (“right to be forgotten”).
  • Object to or restrict certain processing, including marketing.
  • Ask for your data in a portable format.
  • Withdraw consent to marketing at any time, by unsubscribing or emailing us.

To exercise any of these, email support@ikan.fashion, or use our contact page. If you’re not satisfied with our response, you have the right to complain to your local data protection authority (in the UK, the ICO at ico.org.uk).

9. Children

Ikan is not directed at, and we don’t knowingly collect data from, anyone under 16.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our practices change. We’ll update the “last updated” date above whenever we do.
